Pharmacy and Hospital pharmacies
As medicines professionals, pharmacists are trusted players guaranteeing the safety of medicines when dispensing or putting them into stock.
Through the implementation of serialization, hospital pharmacies and retail pharmacies fully participate in this securing of medicinal products ditribution by allowing centralized detection at European level of any attempt at falsification.
Verification of authenticity by means of a scan allows optimal control, strengthens the relationship of trust with patients and the very image of the pharmacy as the only secure distribution channel for medicines.
Registration
Any approved retail or hospital pharmacy in Luxembourg is required to register with LMVO using a registration form .
The duly completed document will be sent to info@lmvo.lu .
Changing registration data
It is very important that your details are recorded correctly and this in order to guarantee a good functioning of your connection and a good support in case of problem.
Also, in the event of a change in the data transmitted previously, please notify us as soon as possible by completing and sending us back this form .
Scanner check
We have created a 2D test code that will allow you to check your scanner and rule out frequently encountered setup issues. It will simply be a question of testing your scanner by performing an FMD VERIFICATION based on the 2D code attached as if it is normal packaging.
Alert messages
Following a request sent by the user, the verification system sends a response (system message) indicating whether the operation has been carried out successfully or whether a problem has been encountered.
Some responses are an indicator of potential tampering, called Alerts.
You will find here the meaning of these Alerts.
Transition to Full FMD - webinars and tools
Since February 9, 2024, the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) is fully applicable in Luxembourg and products generating a serialization alert will have to be quarantined. The management of these FMD alerts will be done in real time via a "National Alert Management System" (NMVS) to which pharmacists, manufacturers, the DPM and LMVO/BeMVO will be connected.
In order to best prepare for this transition, LMVO has organized:
- an information webinar for community pharmacists that you can find here
- an information webinar for hospital pharmacists that you can find here
- a webinar to answer pharmacists' questions in view of the transition to full implementation of the Directive - webinar which you can find here
LMVO/BeMVO have also developed a series of tools:
- a guide to registering for the NMVS Alerts platform
- a user guide for the NMVS Alerts platform
- a decision tree for pharmacists
- a decision tree for wholesalers
